Yikes, Jiggers!!Had a phone call yesterday from Pastor Born in Usenge, Kenya, a fishing village on the shores of Lake Victoria. He said they had begun to put a concrete floor down in the small tin building I had spoken in when I was there for the month of February. I remember the dust being kicked up while we were singing and then of course with my very demonstrative speaking style dished up…
hmmmm may be taking a little liberty with my title words.
Sitting in front of my fire this morning, with my cup of very dark coffee, well ok for those of you without imagination…..
anyway in a time of listening to Lord I was impressed with these two words, survival and thrival. (yes, I know there is no such word as thrival)
I realized I had slipped into survival mode.
More concerned with the things I see in the world than the Word, (what a difference one letter L can make), Not believing or seeing how the commission and calling of the Lord can possibly come to fruition. It has been almost two years now of pursuing what I understood was the way only to discover another way NOT to be a full time missionary. It’s definitely a journey that I am embracing as I am learning.
One of the things I am convicted about is to keep these posts coming and to share the journey from here forward. Friends have been asking me to blog but in my survival mode I could not find the time. Now that I have decided to move into thrival mode I will make time.
How about you? Would you weigh this thought in your heart and mind…. am I in survival or thrival mode? Ask Holy Spirit to make this clear and then with NO condemnation begin to move forward in what you hear. He is faithful, always faithful!
So excited to hear what happens! Send me a note, firstname.lastname@example.org.
next…..independent vs. interdependent

Wow, I just realized I posted about the burned out homes a second time. Thought about removing it and decided not to. I am trying not to be embarrassed at the little I have been able to accomplish in getting the word out about this crisis. We recently met with another missionary who ministers in Africa frequently and she was surprised to hear about this crisis. This news is not being reported for obvious reasons. Christians are being killed and burned out of their dwellings by Islamic terrorists and even at that our Christian leaders and many in the churches there will not leave. They rebuild and continue to hold the front line. KLN is a small organization but as you will share this vision and mission with us, we can accomplish much. Please consider becoming a part of KLN.
We worship. He is Worthy! John
My wife Jan, and I live in Burlington, NC. Our three children are now grown and living in Raleigh and Atlanta. We find ourselves in a season of significant change as we have transitioned out of corporate life into “fulltime” ministry with my Dad, “Papa” John.
This year, 2012, is one of launching a list of new expressions of KLN. The new website www.kln633.org is top of the list. The website brings a host of other opportunities, video, audio, blog posts, writing, continuing to develope Breathe To Worship and the list goes on!
What an honor to serve the Lord alongside my Dad, a dream come true. Though Dad and I may be the “feet on the street” of this ministry for now it obviously is a vision much larger than the two of us….and growing. Would you join us? As you identify with this vision please join us! I am looking forward to meeting and serving alongside you. Let’s take this message of the Kingdom to all nations. Would you join us?
